Ryan’s UK Record Breaking 54.4 Mile Skateboarding Challenge for Brain Tumor
Research & Support.
On Saturday 5th May, Ryan Swain undertook his much publicised “52 Mile
Skateboarding Challenge” in aid of raising awareness and funds for the charity
Louby’s Lifeline and Brain Tumor Research & Support.
Not only did Ryan complete his mission, he actually exceeded his own expec—
tations and skated a total of 54.4 miles in 5 hours and 14 minutes.

Inspired by The Full Monty, Ryan Swain, Scott Simpson, Sam Brookes, Derek Pat-
terson and Callum Wright will take a leaf out of the smash hit 905 film and strip
down to the buff. They are raising money in memory of Norton College student
Laura Tierney with the cash to be split between Louby’s Lifeline, Brain Tumour
Research & Support Across Yorkshire and Children with Cancer.
It is the latest fundraising idea from Ryan, of Norton, who raised thousands of
pounds last year when he skateboarded from Malton to Scarborough and back.
“I do something big for charity every year and, this time, I thought we’ll have a
go at this,” said Ryan. “There’s quite a few similarities between us and The Full
Monty film in that our economy isn’t great and there’s a lot of unemployment.”
“And like the film, we’re just hoping to put on a good show, have some fun and
put smiles on the faces of the audience.”
